A recent study by the Nuffield Trust showed there are 1880 patients for every one GP in Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
This is the worst ratio in the South West of England.
In parts of Fareham it's even worse!
Many surgeries face staffing issues. Sovereign Health Partnership and others face problems because they have to issue routine prescriptions or can't cope with the number of non-emergency appointments required by the growing needs of the population and the lack of GP's.
1. Fareham LibDems want the rules changed to allow Fareham Borough Council to directly employ GPs.
2. Fareham LibDems demand that England follows Wales and Scotland in allowing Pharmacists to issue prescriptions. This will ease the pressure on our GP surgeries and will be more convenient for many people.
